Being "on the
beach" is no joyride. Thats why the
collegial spirit and support you find at Past and current members
all agree: Since we've all been
through this and survived the blow to our esteem and our pocketbooks,
the invaluable help of our Associates, former members who are back at
work and maintain their affiliation with the organization, add a crucial
dimension you simply cannot find elsewhere.
Our focus is entirely on getting you back to work.
As the chart at right
shows, Wall Street jobs rose steadily until the DotCom crash of 2000 and
the 9-ll disaster; after that the numbers fell steadily and are showing
no signs of picking back up. NYC used to own 30% or more of the jobs in
Finance; now we are down to something like 20%. Back office jobs are gone
or going fast, and technology has replaced others. We try to deal with
the real world, the way it actually is...not daydream about How Good Things
Used to Be. That makes us more
effective in helping real people find real jobs, and not waste their efforts
on fruitless searches for jobs that simply don't exist. 40 Plus is a true non-profit, supported solely from member contributions. Initiation fees and dues go to pay rent, utilities and other operating expenses. Our costs are kept low because our members volunteer their time in assisting others on the way back onto a corporate payroll. "What
if I need Repackaging?" At Forty Plus, members
focus on the job search and the tools they need to get rehired. Another
important aspect of Forty Plus is thateven though it is an enjoyable
experience, shared by people with common goals and enthusiasmsit
is a group that wants you to get your job and get out as soon as possible.
After that, our experience is that most people will continue to enjoy
Forty Plus as Associates. Were glad to have them. In-depth
